He should have known something would inevitably go wrong. They've been working on a case together. The usual Scooby gang plus Thomas. Charles and the Cat King were getting along for once and by that, he means the snide comments and catty remarks were kept to a minimum. It turns out, that having someone resistant to spells is quite a handy card to have in one's pocket. Especially when dealing with a warlock harvesting ghosts in a twisted bid for immortality. Their query was prepared to deal with a pair of ghosts. Crystal was easily able to hold his attention with her powers while the Cat King came out of nowhere to knock him out.

The case was being wrapped up when an unfamiliar figure approached. He had no idea who the man was, but he noticed Thomas tense up. Charles and Crystal were busy restraining the unconscious warlock. The stranger could clearly see Edwin, a clue that he wasn't a normal human. Just as he was about to open his mouth to ask the stranger to introduce himself, he felt his point of view shift as a warm body collided with his own.

Thomas had knocked him to the ground and was perched over him. He couldn't see what happened next, their bodies were pressed too close. However, he did hear something like a glass container smashing against Thomas's back. Spilling a dark purple and pink fluid all over him. A potion of some sort?

"What's happening?" He can hear Charles and Crystal in the background, but his question is directed toward the man sprawled over him. Unaware that the contents of the potion were that of a potent aphrodisiac. One that was clearly meant for Edwin.

By the time Thomas responds, the London Cat King is gone. Portaled out just as swiftly as he appeared.

It's been a couple of days. Two nights and half of one day if Edwin's passage of time is correct. Crystal put up a calendar from the New Year on the wall, so he's fairly certain. He's fully healed and he has been keeping in touch with Thomas via their usual method of messages back and forth through the mirror. He has gone through with his promise to tell Charles about their relationship and as they both guessed, it has made things more than a little awkward. The whole atmosphere around the agency office is off-kilter.

But, he has invited Thomas to come and see the London office whenever it pleases him to drop in.

He's seated at the office desk. Charles is off to the side busy with something while Edwin is flipping through a book written in Aramaic. As if searching for a particular chapter. Crystal is to the left of Charles, standing close enough to peer over his shoulder. She's the first to clue in on his presence.

Overall, the atmosphere is lukewarm at best until Edwin glances up and everyone sees him smile in a way they haven't seen before as he lowers the book onto the desk and stands to greet him warmly.

"Welcome to the Dead Boy Detective office in London."

He finally had to cave and ask Charles about the disguises, seeing as he was the one who had put them together in the first place. There were a lot of uncomfortable questions to dodge and as one might have guessed, it is quite maddeningly impossible to do so when one's conversation partner knows every single tell and tactic. Edwin Payne has never had a problem wearing a female form as a disguise until now.

In the end, Charles agreed that it was probably time to update their disguises and set to work with the adjustments. He was able to tell that his friend was pressed about something, just not about what or who.

A message was primly presented through the mirror via one familiar-looking wrist and hand. One of the cats would eagerly carry it directly to the Cat King. A date, a time, an address, and a small note at the bottom mentioning no need for formal dress. How very Edwardian of him.

A club in Madrid. Three nights from now.

There is a pale figure standing outside that looks to be an older version of Edwin. If Edwin had blue eyes and blonde hair, that is. A bit more of a pointed chin. Dressed in a blue and white dress shirt. No one uses wrist cuffs these days, but this guy does. He holds up a hand as soon as he spots the Cat King, unsure if he's recognizable in his new disguise.

They've been working on this case for a total of twenty-three hours (three minutes and twenty-six seconds) when they realize the prime target for this fey to strike is a local gathering of supernatural creatures. It's Edwin who mentions the imminent equinox. Crystal divines the location of the gathering. Charles gathers his backpack and the Scooby Gang is off!

He spots Cat King from the parking lot and all three of them immediately gravitate towards him. They're not in London at the moment. They're in Scotland and just what is the Cat King doing here? There are a lot of questions asked at once.

"A moment?" He rarely raises his voice, so Crystal and Charles immediately take notice and cease their interrogation, which is probably getting nowhere fast.

That question was directed at the stunning man in front of him. He's even willing to drift out of hearing distance to start what he clearly seems to think is an important conversation.
